KTLA News

You are most likely aware of KTLA’s long-standing commitment to assist trial lawyers and the court through the amicus curiae process whenever there is a case on appeal that affects KTLA’s mission. And if you’d like to request that KTLA submit a brief in your case, please review and submit this form. But researching, drafting, and filing amicus briefs is not the only way the Amicus Curiae Committee advocates for KTLA members.

Here are the other things that that the committee can do to help you get the best results
possible for your clients:

  1. The Amicus Curiae Committee will help you troubleshoot motions and appeals before you file them. When you run up against an unusual situation or aren’t quite sure which direction to take, Amicus Curiae Committee members will help you consider the options.
  2. The Amicus Curiae Committee will help you lay the foundation for a constitutional challenge when you file your case in district court. Let’s face it – constitutional challenges can change the law that affects all our clients, for good or bad. Most of us don’t file constitutional cases regularly but we want to get it right when we do. That’s where the Amicus Curiae Committee comes in.
  3. The Amicus Curiae Committee is looking for specific cases that affect members’ practices. The committee has already identified specific areas of law that may be targeted through appeals. The committee is seeking cases that test these areas so that KTLA can submit an amicus brief in support of challenging or protecting the law. But the committee needs your help. Here is the Amicus Committee’s Most Wanted List. Please review it and if you have a case involving any of the areas of law listed, please contact the Amicus Curiae Committee as soon as possible at info@ktla.org, or (785) 232-7756.

The KTLA Amicus Curiae Committee is chaired by Jakob Provo, Prochaska, Howell & Prochaska, Wichita. Committee members are:
